I have not been able to get ASL to change the password. I had to drop to linux terminal and use the “passwd” command.
That password is not ASL’s but the operating system
If you are trying to change one OS password, you likely are not root.
You need root privileges to do that.
Common mistake
Try sudo passwd Or log in as root.
